Dr Hari Priya Bandi is a Canberra-based neurosurgeon and has been working at The Canberra Hospital since 2018. She has now commenced private practice working at National Capital Private Hospital and Calvary Hospital. She is proud to serve in the community in which she grew up and is passionate about providing people in Canberra and the region expert neurosurgical care.
She undertook her medical degree at Adelaide University and then returned to Canberra for Internship, where she gained admittance as a basic surgical trainee. She then went onto do a resident year at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane where she was selected onto Neurosurgical Training.
Hari undertook her Neurosurgical training in multiple major centres on the east coast including Princess Alexandra Hospital, Westmead Hospital, and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and Sydney, Canberra Hospital, Macquarie Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospitals. The national neurosurgical training program has given Hari a broad and thorough exposure to neurosurgical practice as well as an understanding of the different health care systems. This breadth of experience gives her a strong foundation to contribute to her clinical, academic and leadership pursuits.
Dr Bandi is an active member of the Canberra surgical community working to promote surgical education, research, health advocacy and service improvement across the ACT.
She is the current ACT Women in Surgery Representative for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) as well as the Neurosurgical Representative on the RACS ACT Audit of Surgical Mortality Committee (ACTASM)
Dr Bandi is a clinical lecturer and examiner for the ANU medical School and is an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons clinical exam.
She works in a multidisciplinary environment to promote collaborative approaches to patient care, from participating in Multidisciplinary Neurooncology Meetings as well as being the clinical leader of the award wining Spinal Physiotherapy Service at The Canberra Hospital.
Dr Bandi was the co-chair for the RACS ACT ASM in 2021 and she is a strong believer in promoting surgical advancement, research and health advocacy.

She works in a multidisciplinary environment to promote collaborative approaches to patient care, has a great respect for her patients and considers it a privilege to work with GPs and other health care providers to provide patients the best possible care.
